Gail Elizabeth Wingo

July 17, 1947 — June 7, 2021

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Gail Elizabeth (Baltimore) Wingo who attained the age of 73 years, 10 months, and 21 days. She died peacefully at Melech Hospice House in Tampa FL after a long battle with Dementia and Parkinson’s disease. She was surrounded by her three daughters, whom she treasured dearly.

Born in Pine Knot KY, Gail grew up as the youngest of eight siblings. She spent her early life in Kentucky, then many years in Ohio, where she met and married the love of her life, Kenneth Wingo. The couple subsequently moved to Florida and devoted their lives to family, choosing to adopt a daughter, shortly before leaving Ohio, Danielle Elizabeth Wingo, who gained siblings Jeanna, Tammy, and Jody Swain.

Gail is remembered as a very kind and giving person who worked as a bank teller, childcare provider, and homemaker. She was feisty, funny, beautiful inside and out and loved shopping, frogs, windy days, country music and cooking for family. Her best days were spent in the company of her 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Gail leaves behind her husband of 38 years, Kenneth Wingo of Valrico FL, and her three daughters, Jeanna Swain of Riverview FL, Tammy Hight (Robert) of Lithia FL, and Danielle Elizabeth Wingo Skiver of Riverview FL, Sisters Anna Kidd of Pine Knot KY, and Judy Clark of Temperance MI.

She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Robert, Shannon, Ashley, Ryan, Joshua, Jaiden, Caden, Hunter, and Haleigh Hight, as well as Timothy, Greg, Kelly, and Zachary Swain and Michael, William, Bella, Samantha, Aidan, Julian, and Riley Skiver.

Left to treasure Gail’s memory are her six great-grandchildren, Madison, Alijah, Adriona, Ellie, Emily, and Olivia.

She is predeceased by her parents, Nancy Gilreath Baltimore and Lonnie Baltimore of Pine Knot KY, as well as her son Jody Swain, and her siblings Norma, Patsy, Maybeline, Bob, and Rodney.
