EVELYN M. STEPHENS

Evelyn Martha Stephens, age 82, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014, at the McCreary Health and Rehabilitation Center. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. William Kilby officiating.   The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. until time for services at the funeral home.  Burial will be at the East Pine Knot Memorial Gardens at 11a.m. on Thursday

Evelyn was born December 1, 1931, in McCreary County, Kentucky, to the late John Prince and Bertha (Angel) Stephens.  Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters; Geneva Lanter and Goldie Denham, and two brothers; Edgar Stephens and Artie Stephens.

Surviving family include three sons; Coy Stephens, Whitley City, John Paul (and Rose) Stephens, Pine Knot, and Larry Ray (and Diane) Stephens, Pine Knot, as well her ex-husband and father of her children, Elmer Stephens, also of Pine Knot.  She has five grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. She also had a special nephew; Harold Lanter.

Evelyn had worked for McCreary Manufacturing as a sewing machine operator, she enjoyed quilting and crocheting as well and cooking and canning.
