ETHRED CORDELL

Mr. Ethred Cordell, age 94, of Pine Knot, passed away Monday, June 06, 2011, at the McCreary Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pine Knot.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. graveside at Silerville Cemetery with Rev. Daniel Ridener officiating. Special music will be provided by Bill Stephens and Company. Visiting will be at Pine Knot Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until time for funeral services.

Mr. Cordell was born in McCreary County on May 27, 1917 to the late William Thomas and Bertie Cordell. He is also preceded in death by a brother Eldred Cordell and two sisters Flonnie Carr and Glenna Lay.

Surviving family include his wife Pauline M. Murphy Cordell of Pine Knot, a daughter Linda Manis of Sweetwater, Tennessee, a son Donald Cordell of LaGrange, Kentucky, four grandchildren Robin Manis Leamon, Robert Kennard Manis, Don Frank Cordell and Patrick Cordell and eight great grandchildren.

Mr. Cordell was retired from Southern Railroad where he worked on track and equipment. He was a member of the Marsh Creek Baptist church and enjoyed working outdoors and feeding the birds and animals that he loved.
