Effie Neal

Effie (Watson) Neal, age 94 years, of Strunk, Kentucky died Thursday, May 13, 2021 at her home.

She was born in Bald Knob, Kentucky on April 19, 1927 the daughter of Sherman and Rebecca (Dolen) Watson.  Effie was an avid homemaker, member of the Hayes Creek Church of God, had served 15 years as President of the Big South Fork Art Club, and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, painting, and gardening.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett J. Neal; son, William “Bill” Neal; daughter-in-law Linda Neal; son-in-law, Cliff Crabtree; brothers, Daniel Webster Watson, Oscar Watson, Mitchell Watson, Darris Watson, William Peter Watson, Charlie Watson, and Kenneth Watson, a granddaughter, Rebecca Dawn Snider, and a son-in-law, George Moore.

Survivors include her children, Ronnie E. Neal (Lydia) of Sidney, Indiana, Larry D. Neal of Helenwood, Tennessee, Kathy Moore of Strunk, Kentucky, Barbara Zimmerman (Chuck) of Waynesville, North Carolina, Linda Crabtree of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Bruce Neal (Cynthia) of Pine Knot, Kentucky, and Chris Neal of Strunk; sister, Lois Larson of Waynesville, North Carolina; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 2:00pm at the Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Randall Duncan and Bro. Steve Perry officiating.  Burial will follow in the Upper Cal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday after 6:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
