EDWARD PAUL SMITH

Edward Paul Smith, age 72, of Morrow, Georgia, formerly of McCreary County passed away Friday, July 31, 2009, at Whitley City, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 2, 2009, in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Dixon officiating. Interment will be in the Pine Knot Cemetery.

Born September 8, 1936, he was the son of the late Earnest and Mabel Sumner Smith. He was united in marriage to Margaret Sue Loudermilk Smith on August 16, 1956 in McCreary County. They moved to Georgia in 1957. One daughter was born to this union, Kathy Lynn Rampy who resides in Morrow, Georgia. Their Godchildren are Jennifer Morgan Shelby and Summer Danielle Stubbs.

Mr. Smith was a retired gauge mechanic having worked for Owens/Illinois Glass Company in Atlanta, Georgia. Upon graduation from McCreary County High School in 1954, he served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a torpedo man on the USS Currituck sea plane. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed gardening and being in the great outdoors.
