Edlene King

Edlene King, age 71, of Pine Knot, Kentucky passed from this life on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.

Born March 6, 1944, in McCreary County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Fronia (Ramsey) Baird.  Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Gorman Donald King, three brothers; Estil, Elmer and Freeman Baird and three sisters; Sue Carol Baird, Nina Stephens and Elizabeth Kangas.

Surviving family include two sons; Ronald King (and Michelle) of Strunk, Kentucky and Gorman Donald King, Jr. (and Michelle) of London, Kentucky, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. 

Surviving brothers are Emory Baird of Strunk, Kentucky and Leamon Baird of Pine Knot, and five sisters; Betty Craft of Louisville, Kentucky, Sally Baird of Marshes Siding, Kentucky, Marie Ross of Revelo, Kentucky, and Mary (Baltimore) Knierien of Louisville.

Ms. King had worked as a seamstress for American Bag Corporation, and had attended the Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church.  She cherished the time she was able to spend with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 13, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Hurstle Daugherty and Rev. David Troxell officiating.  She will be laid to rest at the Hayes Creek Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
