Earnest Buford Duncan, age 78, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009, at his home.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 5, 2009, at 5:30 p.m., in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Landon Sexton and Rev. Wendell Hill officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Masonic services at 3:00. Burial will be in the Pine Knot Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Monday with military honors.
Mr. Duncan was born August 28, 1930, in Pine Knot, to the late Everett J. and Lina Bell Ellis Duncan. Also preceding him in death is his wife Wilda Stephens Duncan, a daughter Debra Ann Coomer, four brothers Covie, Edgar, Roe and Cletus Duncan and a sister Wilda Wright. Surviving family include a daughter Carolyn (and Rick) Hughes of West Chester, Ohio, five grandchildren; Jimmy (and Debbie) Brinker, Kathy Waldron, Gary Coomer, Angelia Radcliffe and Lorie Cathey, a sister Deloris Gallegos of Pine Knot, Golvin Duncan of Pine Knot, Lester Duncan of North Vernon, Indiana and Dester Duncan of Somerset.
Mr. Duncan was retired from Ford Motor Company and had been employed by Pine Knot Funeral Home until he became disabled. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, was a member of the Kinne Slaven Post 115 of the American Legion, a life member of the VFW Post 5669 in Oneida, the Masonic Lodge F & AM Walnut Hills #483 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Trinity Temple Church of God.
