Earl Dean Whalen

Earl Dean Whalen age 76 of Pine Knot, Kentucky passed from this life on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the UT Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.

He was born on May 30, 1945 in Whitley City, Kentucky to Dorothy Whalen Stephens. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a member of the Free Will Baptist of Plymouth, Michigan. He served in the United States Army. Earl was employed and retired from GM.

He is preceded in death by his his parents, Dorothy and Bill J. Stephens "Pops", brothers, Billy Ray Whalen, Finley "Bleachie" Whalen, Jim Whalen, Donald Whalen, Thuman Whalen, and Jack Stephens, and sisters, Alma Sue Koger and Sybil Ann Stephens.

Surviving family include his sisters, Jean Jeffers and husband, Troy, of Oneida, Tennessee, and Alene Trammell and husband, Roy, of Strunk, Kentucky, 10 nephews, 13 nieces, and a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews, whom Earl loved dearly.

Also surviving are special friends, Jim and Ruth Ann Worley.

To know Earl was to love Earl. He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and friend. He had a heart of gold and will be truly missed.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. David Burton officiating. Burial is to follow in the Holloway Cemetery with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post #115 of Stearns. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday after 11:00 am until service time.
