Donald B. Stephens, age 89, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at the Veterans Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
Donald retired as a car hauler and was a WWII veteran, having served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Paint Rock Baptist Church. Donald was also a member of the American Legion and VFW.
He was born in Pine Knot, Kentucky, on July 29, 1926, the son of the late Floyd Sampson and Myrtle Sophia (Rowe) Stephens. He is preceded in death by his parents along with three brothers: Herman, Ledford and Richard Stephens and four sisters: Georgia Farmer, Kathleen Campbell, Eva Moore and Reva Stephens.
Surviving family include his wife of seventy years Violet “Tubby” Stephens, five daughters: Phyllis Stephens and husband Frank of Perryville, Maryland, Carol Wright of Northeast, Maryland, Donna Machulski and husband Mike of Elkton, Maryland, Penny Stephens and Angie King and husband Shawn both of Pine Knot, and two sons Tim Stephens and wife Pam of Newark, Delaware and Zack Phillips of Winfield, Tennessee. He has four sisters: Edna Wright of Pine Knot, Noneda Barnett of Pine Knot, Marie Bradley of Sidney, Ohio, and Irene Stephens of Pine Knot. Also surviving is eighteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great grandchildren. Loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. To know him was to love him.
Funeral services: Monday, August 1, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of the Pine Knot Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Upper Cal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday July 31, 2016 after 6:00pm at the funeral home. Pine Knot Funeral Home is assisting the family of Donald Stephens.
