DON L. BALL

Don L. Ball, age 78 years and 26 days, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. 

A gathering of family and friends will take place Saturday, June 16, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home.  Bro. Boyd Rowe will provide words of comfort.

Don was born in McCreary County on May 19, 1940, to the late Lark and Mary (Hamlin) Ball.  Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by three children: Teressa K. Ball, Curtis Ball, and Larry Paul Lay, a granddaughter: Aimee Lauren Chitwood, a great grandson: Grant Torkelson, two sisters: Lois King and Faye Ball, three brothers: William Everett Ball, Arthur Ball, and Bobby C. Ball and four infant siblings.

He is survived by his wife, Betty (Swain) Ball whom he married October 27, 1979.  He is the father of: Sherry Barnett, Toby Ball, Shane Ball and Shawn Ball.  He is the step-father of: Tersia Marksberry, Gena Gail Gregory, Greg Hughes, Jeff Hughes, Tona Chitwood, and Teresa Bruce.  He has four surviving brothers: Glenn (and Bonnie) Ball, Leamon (and Linda) Ball, Archie (late Sue) Ball, and Ronald (and Reva) Ball and four sisters: Virgie (and Dean) King, Dorella Waters, Bonnie Sue (and Ralph) Marcum, and Betty (and Jim) Filipovich. 

Don had numerous grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and very special neighbors who he loved dearly.

He was of the Baptist faith. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator for D. H. Campbell and Robert Cordell.

He enjoyed deer and rabbit hunting, 4-wheeling, motorcycling, loudly listening and dancing with the grandkids to gospel music, and gardening.  Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who he loved to spoil and send home.
