Obituary for Mr. Dolphus Maxwell
Dolphus Brit Maxwell, of Whitley City, Kentucky, passed from this life into eternal rest on Friday July 20, 2007, at his home with friends and family by his side. He was 66 years old.
Funeral services were Monday July 23, 2007 at 1pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Rollins and Rev. Randall Brown officiating. Burial was in the McCreary Memorial Gardens at Whitley City.
He was born in the Foster Community of McCreary County on March 11, 1941 to the late Emery and Dora Jones Maxwell. Along with his parents, a brother Ardell Maxwell and 2 sisters Emma Lee Maxwell and Dorothy Haas, have preceded him in death.
He married Nona Spicer on May 9, 1970, and although they had no children, they carried a special place in their hearts for Larry Wade Tucker, whom they thought of as a son.
Dolphus has 4 surviving sisters: Dovie Tucker and her husband Jim of Stearns, Frona Tucker and her husband Lawrence of Whitley City, Tammie Haake-Smith and her husband Ray of Spring Hill, Tennessee, and Amy West and her husband Raymond of Whitley City. He also has 11 nieces and nephews and 29 great nieces and nephews, as well one great great niece, Madison Garland. There is also a brother in law surviving, William Hass, of Blanchester, Ohio.
Dolphus was a retired machinist and had formerly worked a the Clark Henry Company in Covington, Kentucky. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an excellent Bee Keeper.
Dolphus was a member of the Silerville Baptist Church. His passing leaves us sad and sorrowful, but his presence with his Savior gives joy everlasting.
