DILLARD STRUNK

Dillard Strunk, age 79, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at his home in Whitley City, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Sewell officiating. Burial will be at the Barren Fork Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time for services.

Dillard was born at Honeybee, Kentucky, on July 9, 1934. He was the son of the late Luther and Bertha (Vanover) Strunk His parents precede him in death. He is also preceded in death by a son Carson Edward Brooks, a sister Beatrice Taylor, two brothers Ray and Howard Strunk and a son-in-law, Curtis Young.

Surviving family include his wife Barbara Jean (Carter) Strunk of Whitley City, a daughter Anna Young of Whitley City, sons; James Ralph Brooks (and wife Myrtle) of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, Gary Lee Strunk (and Sandy) of Wilmore, Kentucky, Dale Strunk, Whitley City, Ronnie Strunk, Whitley City and Steve Strunk, Whitley City, and a sister Pearl Tucker of Whitley City. There were 19 grandchildren and approximately 41 great grandchildren

Dillard had been a logger and worked in sawmills for most of his working career. He last worked for Mid State Automotive in Somerset. He liked to hunt and ride horses. He enjoyed talking to people and getting together with his Barren Fork buddies. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
