David Allen "Crock" Nelson of Pine Knot Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010, at his home on Cal Hill Road. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 2, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Cyrus Byrd officiating. Burial will be at the Angel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 a" 9 p.m. at the funeral home. "Crock" entered this life on November 2, 1954 at Somerset, Kentucky. the son of the late Robert and Ireeda Tucker Nelson who lived in Marshes Siding, Kentucky. He was a lifelong citizen of McCreary County where he was well known for his outstanding work as a professional painter. Crock graduated from McCreary County High School in 1972. After graduation Crock went to work in the Justus Mines working there until the mines closed. Then he began his painting career. On November 26th, 1982 he married Brenda Jones Nelson. Crock also had a love for the outdoors and for cooking. Preceding him in death is his parents Robert Nelson and Ireeda Tucker Nelson, a son Bobby Nelson and a brother-in-law Roger King. Surviving him is his daughter Bridget King and son-in-law Joshua King of Lexington, KY, Brenda Nelson of Stearns, two brothers Bobby Nelson and wife Diane of Revelo, KY, Wayne Nelson and wife Sharon of Stearns, KY, one sister LaVerne King of Georgia, two nephews Rodney and Kyle King, three nieces Jennifer Morgan, Amy Stafford and Leslie Coffey, and four great nieces.
