David Wayne Gilreath age 62 of Pine Knot, Kentucky passed from this life on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the Jean Waddle Care Center, Hospice of Lake Cumberland in Somerset, Kentucky.
He was born on September 7, 1961 in Oneida, Tennessee to the late Woodrow Gilreath and Frances (Adams) Gilreath. In addition to his parents, Dave is preceded in death by his sisters, Brenda Combs and Kimberly Ann Brimm.
Surviving family include his children, Justin Gilreath (and Lisbeth) of Somerset, Kentucky, Stacey Baird (and Nick) of Jellico Creek, Kentucky, and a special daughter, Taylor Neal of Pine Knot; a sister, Martha Ball (and Jeff) of Stearns; a brother, Steve Gilreath also of Stearns, and the mother of his children, Cindy Neal.
Also surviving are Dave's grandchildren, Parker Baird, Paisley Baird, Bethany Nevels, and Christopher Nevels (and Lexi) and great-grandchildren, Jaxon Williamson, Emmalee Williamson, and one on the way, Camden Nevels.
Dave was a Veteran of the United States Army and a devoted member of the Hope City Church who loved attending services. Dave had a generous heart. He very much enjoyed helping others in every way he could. He had an amazing talent with photography, taking photos as well as doing video photography. Dave also enjoyed music, taking walks, chasing sunsets, and driving. He had many hobbies in life, but nothing meant more to him than serving his Lord and caring for his family and grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Hope City Church (formerly known as Whitley City Church of God). Burial to follow in the Pleasant Run Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday after 12:00 noon until service time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that anyone wishing to make a contribution, to please do so at the Pine Knot Funeral Home to assist with remaining expenses.
