Curtis Dawson

Curtis Rains Dawson, age 70, of Whitley City, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Born January 31, 1953, in Somerset, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Randall Ray and Geneva Smith Dawson.  Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers: Jack Dawson, V.J. Dawson and Rick Dawson, and a sister, Bonnie Allison.

Surviving family include a son, Reggie Dawson (Ashley) of Whitley City, Kentucky, and a daughter, Jessica Dawson of Somerset, Kentucky, a brother, Eddie Dawson of Indiana, grandchildren: Dakota Dawson, Brandon Corder ,Callie Corder, Noah Gibson, and Kenna Gibson, and a great daughter, Lillith Dawson.

Curtis enjoyed camping and spending time with family.  Most of all he enjoyed playing softball and everything associated with softball.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 23, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Rufus Hughes officiating.  He will be laid to rest at the Smith Cemetery on Roundtop Road in Strunk, Kentucky.
