Claude Sumner

Claude Sumner age 72 of the Beulah Heights Community of Whitley City, Kentucky, passed from this life on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born December 16, 1946 in McCreary County, Kentucky to the late Earl Sumner and Martha (Stephens) Sumner. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Sumner, and sisters, Elnora Jones, Nora Sumner, and Thelma Gibbs. 

Surviving family include his sister, Joan Lyons and husband, Bryce, of the Beulah Heights community; brothers, Bill Sumner and wife, Linda, of Columbus, Ohio, Jerry Sumner and wife, Brenda of Pine Knot, and James Sumner and wife, Brenda, of Beulah Heights. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 

Claude was a member of the Beulah Heights Church of God. He loved attending church and serving the Lord. Claude also enjoyed taking photos and playing bingo. 

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 8:00 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday after 6:00 until service time. Burial will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 pm at the Roberts Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be sent to Ashley Creekmore with Signature Health Care in memory of Claude.
