Mr. Chester Leon Waters, age 66, of Whitley City, Kentucky, passed away Monday, June 6, 2011, at his home with his family at his side.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 9, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Sexton officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Pine Knot Cemetery with military honors to be provided by the Kinne Slaven Post 115 of the American Legion. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until funeral service time.
Chester was born January 19, 1945, in Cooperative, Kentucky, to John Sidney Waters and Alta Mae Gregory Waters. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He has been a truck driver before his retirement. He loved fishing, singing, and playing his guitar and spending time with his family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother Kenneth Waters. Survivors include his son Audie Waters and his wife, Erika of New Castle, Indiana; and daughters Daphne Chakurian and her husband Tony of Rosedale, California, and Tonya Meadors of Muncie, Indiana; a brother Paul Waters and his wife Brenda of Muncie, Indiana; sisters Ella Mae Hill of Muncie, Janice Grundy of Pine Knot, Fayrene Hill of Stearns, Shirley Frye and her husband Willie of Mandan, North Dakota and Mary Gibson of Monticello. There are six grandchildren and three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
