Carl James Strunk

Carl James Strunk, age 81, of Winfield, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023, at the Oneida Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born in Scott County, Tennessee on November 1, 1941, to the late Louie and Madeline Chitwood Strunk.  Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Carl James, Jr., a daughter, Patsy Lynn Stephens, and a sister, Betty Sue Spradlin and a brother, Lloyd Strunk.

Surviving family include his wife, Opal (Morrow) Strunk, sons: Marshall Strunk (Billie) of Winfield, Michael Strunk (Mitzi) of Winfield, daughters: Nancy Bridges of Oneida and Olivia Bacon (Bob) of Robbins, Tennessee.

There are nine grandchildren: Latisha Wilson, Chris Strunk, Becky Gayheart, Dustin Strunk, Mikey Bridges, Tyler Strunk, Elizabeth Stephens, Jaxson Cross and Harley Quinn Cross.

There are 12 great grandchildren: Gracie Wilson, Connor Wilson, Adrian Chitwood, Aubrey Chitwood, Aeron Chitwood, Paisley Strunk, Zoey Rogers, Carter Bridges, Keira Bridges, Cole Wilson, Addi Gayheart, and Caraline Bridges.

Surviving brothers and sisters are Johnny Lee Strunk (Betty) of Strunk, Kentucky, Delmon Strunk (Phyllis) of Winfield, Elmon Strunk (Alene) of Winfield, Benny Struk (Jenny) of Strunk, and Anna Lou Strunk of Strunk, Kentucky

Carl had worked as a janitor for the Winfield Elementary School.  He also had worked at Tibbals Flooring Company, in the coal strip pits and as a dairy farmer.  He was a member at the Mt. View Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, gardening and cutting grass.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 17, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., at the Mt. View Baptist Church in Robbins, Tennessee, with Bro. Phillip Kidd officiating.  Burial will follow at the Chitwood Cemetery in Winfield. Visitation will be at 12:00 noon at the church.
