Brenda Wright West

Brenda Wright West age 78 of Pine Knot, Kentucky passed from this life on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born September 30, 1945 in Danville, Kentucky to the late Winfred Arter Wright and Ruth (Strunk) Wright. In addition to her parents, Brenda is preceded in death by an infant sister. 

Surviving family include her husband of 35 years, Robert L. West; her son, Billy Michael Martin and his wife, Colena; a step-son, Russell West; two grandchildren, Hunter Michael Martin and Tristian Nicole Martin (and Brandon Phillips); and two great-grandchildren, Brentlee Phillips and Ellie Marie Phillips. 

Brenda was a member of Grace & Truth Tabernacle Church of God where she served as pianoist. Brenda worked for McCreary Motors in Stearns for 3 years before accepting a position with the U.S. Forest Service in Whitley City, where she worked as a Support Services Specialist for 31 years. 

Brenda loved spending time with her family. Her hobbies were making and teaching others how to make baskets, swedish weaving and flower gardening. Over time, Brenda had made 676 baskets for herself and others. She also enjoyed teaching gospel piano music. 

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 4:00 pm at the Grace and Truth Tabernacle Church of God with Rev. William Kilby officiating. Burial to follow in the Lower Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday after 2:00 pm until service time. 

Pallbearers will be: Gus Skinner, Ronnie Hamlin, Todd Martin, Brandon Phillips, Stuart Bryant, and Greg Neal.
