BOYD COMBS

Mr. Boyd Combs, age 95 of Somerset, passed away on Saturday March 20, 2010 at his home.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 12:30pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Harvey Logan officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Knot Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday morning after 11am until time for services at the funeral home.

He was born at Butterfly, Kentucky on September 24, 1914. He was the son of the late Garrett and Elizabeth Eversole Combs. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 sons, Michael Ray and Carl Leon Combs, a brother Glenn Combs and a sister, Bea Moore.

He is survived by his wife Aileen Cornelius Combs who he married on July 16, 1938. 3 sons, Garrett Combs and his wife Wanda of James Creek, Pennsylvania, Robert Burton Combs and his wife Gisela of Palm Bay, Florida and Roger Boyd Combs of Lexington, Kentucky. 4 daughters, Thelma Joyce Daugherty and her husband Bill of Pine Knot, Mary Elizabeth Stephens of Somerset, Barbara Gail Moore and her husband Gary of Glasgow, Kentucky and Maxine Smith of Annville, Pennsylvania. He has 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild also surviving.

Mr. Combs was a retired coal miner, and had served as a local union officer with the United Mine Workers and he was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking and enjoyed raising his children.
