BILLIE STERLING COLLINS

Billie Sterling Collins, age 78, of Owenton, Kentucky, formerly of Pine Knot passed away Friday, October 5, 2012, at the St. Elizabeth South Hospice in Edgewood, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Daniel Ridener officiating. Burial will be at the Hayes Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until funeral service time at 1:00 p.m.

Bill had been a factory worker in Cincinnati, Ohio, before moving back to McCreary County. He was a member of the Hayes Creek Church of God.

Born in Stearns, Kentucky, on October 22, 1933, he was the son of the late Ben and Joie Collins. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Willa Mae (Lay) Collins whom he married on January 5, 1957, two children Ricky and Kimberly Collins, and seven siblings; Loraine Collins, Alene Musgrove, Doyle Collins, Loyd Collins, Bobby Lee Collins, Opal Proffit and Ruby Collins.

Surviving family include a daughter Caroline Murphy of Pine Knot, and three sons; Billie Michael Collins (and wife Tracey) of Cincinnati, Rodney Mitchell Collins (and wife Jacqueline) of Somerset, and Roger Starlin Collins also of Somerset. Bill and Willa had 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
