BETTY JANE STRUNK

Mrs. Betty Jane Strunk, age 49, of Bedford, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at the Bloomington Hospital of Orange County in Paoli, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Jones officiating. She will be laid to rest in the New Light Cemetery in Winfield, Tennessee. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 - 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Strunk was born on February 21, 1959, in McCreary County, Kentucky, to the late Harley and Martha Jones Phillips. She was a homemaker and a member of the Tabernacle of Praise in Bedford, Indiana.

Besides her parents, preceding her in death is a brother, Harley Phillips, Jr. and a sister Brenda Worley. Surviving family include her husband Mikel Strunk whom she married June 11, 1977. During their thirty years of marriage they were blessed with three children, Jason Strunk of Bedford, Indiana, Susanna (and Sam) Harness of Bedford and Michelle Strunk of Bloomington, Indiana, and two precious grandchildren Julia and Zaine Harness.

There are five surviving brothers, Roy Phillips of Whitley City, Roger Phillips of Bedford, Larry Phillips of Loogootte, Indiana, Arthur Phillips of Bedford, and David Phillips of Bedford. There are three surviving sisters, Mary Phillips of Bedford, Joyce Deckard of Bloomington, Indiana, and Geneva Jones of Bedford.

Betty enjoyed her family and her home life, having spent 16 years as a navy wife. She was a very good cook and the last meal she prepared and enjoyed together with her family was beef stew.
