Betty Ball 72, of Pine Knot, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Friday September 30, 2011.
Funeral services were held on Monday October 3, 2011 at 2pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home, with Rev. Allen Burk officiating. Burial followed in the Sherd Dobbs Cemetery.
She was born September 2, 1939, in McCreary County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Nelson Maxwell and the late Marie Maxwell. She was raised in Smithtown, KY by her loving Uncle and Aunt Roosevelt and Myrtle Maxwell. Lowell Dolen was raised as her brother and they share many special memories.
She was married to Richard Ball, in Pine Knot, KY. She came from a small family but married into the large Ball family which she loved with all her heart.
She is survived by her husband Richard Ball of Pine Knot, KY. One brother Randy Maxwell of Pine Knot, KY and one sister Mary Ann Jones of Stearns, KY. Her brother-in-law Ronnie Ball, Pine Knot, KY. Her sister-in laws Julie Estes of Cincinnati, Ohio, Janie Shelley of Revelo, KY , Patricia Maxwell, Speedway, IN and a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law Hoyt and Dovie Ball of Stearns, Ky. A special niece also survives Sue Wilson of Stearns, KY.
Betty was a loving and kind soul. She never had children of her own but she had many nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own and mourn her passing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, aunts and uncles. Her brother Cephaes Maxwell passed away in January of this year and she mourned his passing deeply. Her brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws preceding her in death were: Carl Jack and Nellie Ball, Darrell and Bertha Ball, Bill Shelley, Ralph Ball, James Ball Junior, Millie and Edgar Barnett, Mark "Doc" Ball, Claude and Irene Ball, Estes and Maudie Ball.
She was a devoted Christian and loved and served the Lord with all her heart. She was saved at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Bell-Farm, KY in 1953. She was member of Meadows Grove Baptist Church for many years and attended many churches throughout the community. Betty faced many challenges and difficulties throughout her life including a physical handicap but she was a hard worker who overcame all that with her determination. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her and loved her. Our loss in heavens gain!
