Arvis G. Cox, better known as "Hot Shot" or "Slim", age 86 of Medina, Ohio passed peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday April 3, 2024 at his home.
He was born on February 25, 1938 in Newcomb, Tennessee to the late Harvey H. Cox and Mary Grace (Dowell) Cox.
In addition to his parents, Arvis is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce (Baird) Cox, his only son, Michael Wayne Cox, brothers Lacey Cox, Worley Cox and G.B. Cox, and a sister Pauline Cox.
Arvis was a retired master mechanic with Yellow Freight. He enjoyed race car driving and working on cars. He loved spending his time with family and his friends.
Arvis is survived by 2 daughters, Nancy Ellis of Brunswick, Ohio and Cheryl (Dennis) Hammonds of London, Kentucky.
His grandchildren who he loved as his own; Rachel Ellis of Brunswick, Ohio, Danielle Ellis (and Daniel) of Brunswick, Ohio, Brandon Cox of Medina, Ohio, Dana Davis (and Jeff) of London, Kentucky and Jordan Hammonds (and Emily) of Johnson City, Tennessee.
Great-grandchildren; Kayla, Matthew, Cheyenne, Maleah, Kylie and Gracie; Great-Great grandchildren; Melonie, Mason and Noah; and also his dear friend Peggy Colburn.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Cody Canada officiating. Burial to in the Hayes Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday after 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
