Mr. Arvile Duncan, of Strunk, Kentucky, was called home to Heaven on Wednesday, September 08, 2010, at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 29 days.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Norman Burke and Rev. Harold Rollins officiating. Burial will be at the Josh Wilson Cemetery in Strunk. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 a" 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born April 19, 1929, to Sherman and Sylvania King Duncan. Arvile was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and also attended Silerville Baptist Church.. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in the Korean War during 1950-1954.
He is survived by his loving wife Vada Ann Duncan of Strunk, and their seven children, Mary Ann Ross, Robert (and Wanda) Duncan, Monnie (and Eddie) Wood, Pamala (and Jeffery) Tinnell, Charles David Duncan, Herman Arvile Duncan, and Dora (and Benjamin) Duncan, who all loved him dearly. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tommy Arvile Ross, Jessica Wood, Joshua (and Amanda) Duncan, Nakita (and Matt) Perkins, Chaz Duncan, Charli (and Jeremy) Delaughter, Chadden Duncan, Jarrett Tinnell, and Cierra Tinnell, and great-grandchildren, Chaylenn, Mariah, Maleki and Brynden all of whom brought great joy to his life.
He is survived by one brother Herman (and Imogene) Duncan, a sister Mary Strunk and sister-in-laws Dora Kidd and Mamie King and also many friends and loved ones. Preceding him in death were his parents; his sons, Sherman Johnny and Fred Oliver; his brothers Oliver "Bud", and Theodore and his sisters Geneva, Maxine, and Verline.
