ANNA CASSADY

Mrs. Anna Cassady, passed away on Thursday June 25, 2009 at her home in Revelo. She was 68 years old.

Services will be Saturday June 27, 2009 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Willis Troxell and Stuart Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in the Kingtown Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-9pm at the funeral home.

She was born in McCreary County on November 12, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Jess and Oma Reed Crabtree Angel. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by 5 brothers: Jesse Crabtree, Burl Crabtree, Marion Boyatt, Walter B. Crabtree and Paul Crabtree. As well as 4 sisters, Lori Crabtree, Mandy Barnett, Gloris King and Elsie Wilson.

Survivors include her husband and companion of more than 45 years, Arvol Cassady Jr. She has a son, Ed Hamner, and his wife Heather of Strunk, KY. 4 daughters, Patty Kidd and her husband Tony of Strunk, Betty Strunk and her husband Tim of Whitley City, Rita Messer and her husband Tim of Mackville, KY and Cathy Buttram and her husband Dane of Oneida, Tennessee. She has 11 grandchildren, Cole and Evan Kidd, Grant Hamner, Coy Strunk, MacKenzie and Nathaniel Messer, LeAnna Gilreath, Aaron, Andrew and Bryson Buttram, and Adam Chambers. Her brother Arnold Crabtree of Strunk, as well as her sisters, Rosa Daugherty and Hannah Garland also survive.

Anna and J. R. ran Cassady's store in McCreary County for more than 30 years. Anna loved her family especially her grandchildren. She was a dedicated and hardworking, wife, mother and grandmother. Her strength and character was always apparent with everyone she knew.
