ALMA NEAL TAYLOR

January 14, 1932 — June 6, 2014

Alma Neal Taylor, age 82, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014, at her home in Strunk, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 9, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Harvey Logan and Rev. Tim Stephens officiating.  Burial will be at the Pleasant Run Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday from 1 – 3 p.m.  An Eastern Star service is scheduled for Monday at 2:30 p.m.

Mrs. Taylor was born at Duck Run, Kentucky on January 14, 1932.  She was the daughter of the late John Frank and Etta (Jones) Hamlin.  Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Arnold Taylor and her first husband John Neal.

Brothers and sisters that precede her in death are Willard Hamlin, Clifford Hamlin, Leonard Hamlin, Lola Belville, Amy Ledford and Velva Stafford as well as an infant brother, Delmer Hamlin.

Surviving family include a daughter Dianne Neal of Strunk, Kentucky, and two sons; Jimmy (and Lois) Neal of Pine Knot and Conley (and Linda) Neal of Lawrenceburg, Indiana.  She was blessed with nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.  She has two surviving brothers; Howard Hamlin of Strunk and Maynard Hamlin of Deer Park, Ohio, and a sister Myrtle Greene of Miamisburg, Ohio.

Mrs. Taylor was retired from the McCreary County Schools as a teacher’s aide.  She was a member of the Hayes Creek Church of God and the Laurel Heights Chapter 288 of the Eastern Star in Stearns.  She enjoyed camping, traveling and being with her family.  In her younger years she belonged on a bowling league.  She started each of her days off by sitting on the front porch probably reflecting on back her life and thinking of the glory that lies ahead.
