Mrs. Aileen Combs, age 91, of Somerset, the widow of the late Boyd Combs, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 22, 2010, at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Harvey Logan officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Pine Knot Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until funeral time.
Mrs. Combs was born November 11, 1918, to the late James Calvin and Flossie Hamlin Cornelius in Whitley County, Kentucky. On March 20, 2010, her husband Boyd Combs passed away. She is also proceeded in death by two sons Michael Ray and Carl Leon Combs, three brothers Claude, Boyd, and James Ray Cornelius and two sisters Mildred Wilson and Ruth O'Daniel. Surviving family include three sons, Gary (and Wanda) Combs of James Creek, Pennsylvania, Robert (and Gisela) Combs of Palm Bay, Florida, and Roger Boyd Combs of Lexington, Kentucky. There four daughters, Thelma (and Bill) Daugherty of Pine Knot, Mary Elizabeth Stephens of Somerset, Barbara (and Gary) Moore of Glasgow, Kentucky, and Maxine Smith of Annville, Pennsylvania. There is a brother, Lonnie Cornelius of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, and a sister Virldene Bunch of Simpsonville, Kentucky left surviving. Mrs. Combs had 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, and a very special friend Peggy Daugherty.
Mrs. Combs was a homemaker and member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Oneida, Tennessee. She enjoyed quilting, embroidering, gardening and canning, and her family which gave her the most pleasure.
